Can you take my old garage door and install a new one?
Yes we can! We are happy to remove and take away your old garage door and install your new one. Just let us know when you give us a call.
Can you repair my existing garage door?
Yes we can! If you are having issues with your garage door, we can send out an engineer to see what the issue is, and provide a solution. Give us a call or send us a photo of the problem, and let’s see how we can help.
Do you provide a free garage door survey?
Yes we do! You can book an appointment with one of our team, and we can come out to complete a free survey for a new garage door.
Do you have a showroom?
Yes, we have 2! You can come and see us at our Doncaster and Sheffield showroom, we have a large range of styles and colours of garage doors on display, and are happy to help with any questions you have. Can I have a different colour for my new garage door?
Here at Zap we have a wide range of styles and colours for your new garage door. See our website, or come and see some real garage doors at our Doncaster and Sheffield showrooms.
Do you need a frame for a garage door?
Most new garage doors come with a frame as standard.
Are garage doors secure?
Yes. Most new garage doors from Zap are available with locks and added security features, so you can rest assured your new garage door is safe and secure. We also do a large range of “high Security” doors.
Do garage doors rust?
Only very old garage doors. Most garage doors are made out of galvanised steel and use special finishes and treatments to prevent rust and corrosion.
Does a new garage door increase my home's value?
Yes. Upgrading to an automated electric garage door, or a roller garage door can increase the market value of your home when selling.
Can you paint a garage door?
Yes, but you need to prepare the door first and get the correct paint. We would suggest getting a new garage door in a colour of your choice.
Can you insulate your current garage door?
Yes, but often this can be a time consuming process, and may not always fully insulate your garage. We have new insulated garage doors, that insulate from wind and sound, the best option.
Up & Over Garage Doors
Can you fix an up and over garage door cable?
No, damaged and broken cables will need to be replaced. This is a repair we can provide.
How much space do you need for an up and over garage door?
It depends on the space you have - we suggest requesting a free survey to get the exact details for your home.
What is a canopy garage door?
A canopy garage door is a garage door with a spring mechanism that opens outward into your driveway. This is most suitable for manual operation.
What is a retractable garage door?
A retractable garage door is the same as a canopy garage door, but has a track for the door to follow. This is most suitable for an electric garage door.
Can you get an electric up and over garage door?
Yes. We have a range of automated electric up and over garage doors.
Sectional Garage Doors
How do you adjust sectional garage door springs?
You can cause damage and potential issues with your garage door if you try and adjust the springs yourself, we advise you get a specialist like Zap Garage Doors to carry out any repair work.
Can you get an electric sectional garage door?
Yes you can. We offer both electric and manual sectional garage doors.
Roller Garage Doors
Can you use WD-40 in a roller garage door?
No. Using a silicon based lubricant or furniture polish is best.
Can you fix roller garage door locking straps?
No. You need to replace the locking straps if they are damaged or broken. Zap Garage Doors can carry out these repairs.
Wooden Garage Doors
Do wooden garage doors rot?
New wooden garage doors are treated and stained to protect against rot and corrosion.
Can you paint or stain a wooden garage door?
Yes. You can paint or stain your wooden garage door, but you need to prepare the door and ensure you have all the correct equipment and the correct paint or stain. It may be easier to get a new one from us.

What colours do you have available for entrance doors?
We have lots of colours and styles available for our entrance doors.
Can I get a steel entrance door to match my garage?
Yes you can! Our steel entrance doors are from Hörmann, and just like their garage doors there are lots of styles and colours to chose from.
Can you install both a new entrance door and garage door?
Yes we can! If you want a new entrance door and garage door to match, we can do both.
Can I have a steel entrance door without a window?
There are several options for windows with our steel entrance doors. You can have a window in the door itself, or have a solid door with windows to the side.
